Fuel cells are one of the zero-emission elements modern automotive drive systems. This article presents theoretical identification component parameters indicators for fuel cell operating conditions. Activation, ohmic, and mass transport losses were identified. Current–voltage characteristics provided along with an analysis typical losses. The actual performance analyzed Toyota Mirai I II generation vehicles. conditions derived in context real driving Therefore, urban, rural, motorway used. vehicles equipped PEM supplying power equal to 114 kW (1st gen.) or 128 (2nd gen.). average stack values depend on conditions: urban (about 10 kW), rural (20 kW) 30–40 modes. different ratings combined battery generations resulted a variation Analyses conducted various traffic indicated possibility determining related cells. shows greatest activation when under high load (for both generations)—i.e., voltage resistive reached its maximum was small.
